Physiotherapy Intensives for Kids in Toronto and Mississauga

Physiotherapy Intensives with the TheraSuit®

At All About Kids Rehab, we provide physiotherapy intensives for kids with the TheraSuit®. We use this unique rehabilitation device in physiotherapy to support physical and neurological rehabilitation. The TheraSuit® is a soft, breathable, dynamic orthotic suit with bungee-like cords attached. Patients wear this suit for support while a therapist leads them through guided exercises designed to strengthen and target specific muscular areas of concern.

Physiotherapy intensives often take place in the Universal Exercise Unit (UEU/Spider Cage) for stabilization of pulleys and bungees. This is a customizable therapy designed for your specific needs!

We are proud to provide our structured TheraSuit® Method Intensive Program. This is 3-4 weeks of intensive 3-hour physiotherapy, 5 days/week. To learn more, call our clinic, or get started by registering online!

The TheraSuit® Method Intensive Program in Mississauga

The TheraSuit® Method Intensive program is a neurofunctional therapy program that consists of the use of the TheraSuit® and the UEU/Spider Cage. (See definitions below.) The combined use of this equipment helps children (and now adults) to develop new motor patterns and correct maladaptive patterns of movement. This is a neurofunctional program that consists of 3-4 weeks of intensive 3-hour physiotherapy, 5 days/week.

TheraSuit®: A soft, breathable, dynamic orthotic suit with bungee-like cords attached.

Universal Exercise Unit (Spider Cage): A supportive structure for exercises that incorporates bungees and pulleys. The UEU, often referred to as the Spider Cage, incorporates the use of a pulley system and bungees. Strengthening in the pulley system helps to target specific muscles groups and isolate weaker muscles. The use of the bungee suspensions allows the therapist to ensure the patient is well-aligned while performing functional activities while keeping the therapist’s hands free to assist in the activity.

What to Expect from Physiotherapy Intensives with The TheraSuit® Method

Prior to the start of your child’s intensive, we will establish a functional, attainable goal. Our team will then work on a plan and customize your child’s treatment to their unique needs.

  1. We begin with the use of hot packs and gentle massage or joint compressions to prep the muscles for work.
  2. Next, your child will complete a set of specific individualized strengthening exercises utilizing the UEU pulley system.
  3. Then your child will move into the spider cage to continue their strengthening in a functional, supported manner.
  4. Additional functional work outside of the cage may be needed, depending on your child’s progress and needs.

All exercises are carefully selected to reach our functional goal. We are creative and strive to make each session enjoyable for the child.

My toddler with hypermobile joints has been coming here for a few months now to help strengthen her muscles. Maddie is her physiotherapist, and she is SO GOOD at her job! My daughter absolutely loves the appointments because Maddie makes them fun and exciting. I have noticed improvements in my daughter’s strength and movements at home. Maddie is also very patient with little kids and able to motivate my toddler even when she’s being a bit stubborn. In fact, all the staff are super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank you!

So thankful for the OT and PT services for my daughter. Shirley and Farida are exceptional therapists who are big hearted and innovative in their treatment strategies. I really appreciate the way they think outside the box and make adjustments to the treatment plans as they get to know the client. My special needs daughter always looks forward to her sessions and we have seen steady improvement 👍

This is the best physio spot for kids and adults!! The physiotherapists are so welcoming and knowledgeable. They know how to deal with children of all ages and mobility. I've taken my children to see Shirley, she is top notch and my children look forward to seeing her. She has implemented a plan to strengthen their core and improve their performance in sports activities and for everyday life. We loved Shirley so much we convinced my husband to leave his physiotherapist at a different clinic!!!

I am a mom to a little girl who was born with Spina Bifida. All about physiotherapy was recommended to us by a friend who used the clinic for years for her son and saw major progress in his development. We commute an hour to this clinic and it is worth it. The staff listens to our needs and concerts. They have flexibility in schedule. Every session we begin with discussing goals and medical updates. They do variety of methods such as acupuncture and electrodes for our daughter which have helped with her bowels, reducing the need for medication. Our daughter squeaks with excitement when we are pulling up to the building. We love that they push and encourage her to reach her goals while making it fun during the sessions. Highly recommend them. We have worked both with Madeline and Nastassia.

All about kids rehabilitation centre is by far the best place to take your kids to. My son has worked with Rim who is an exceptional therapist, she knows how to motivate him, and push through his limits. He has also worked with Nastassia, who is also amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful and caring facility that cares about the kids they see, and truly wants to see them succeed.
